BIGGGG remix coming from Big Gigantic of Savoy's, "We Are The Sun". Althuogh Savoy is now based out of New York, they started in Boulder, Colorado & this track is like one big Colorado gang bang! Savoy produced a stellar electro track with Heather Bright  laying down vocals, and Big Gigantic came through and made an equally as energetic dubstep version that I'm sure you'll all dig on quite a bit. Head over to Big Gigantic's website & show them some love!

-FISK(TREETHUGGER)-
Please enjoy this exclusive interview.

As we gear up for Sonic Bloom 2012, we wanted to get a bit hyphy and talk to some of the extremely off the hook local talent that is representing at this years Sonic Bloom.
Thanks to Rebecca over at Tsunami Publicitymaking the connection, we were able to catch up with Whomp Truck & Mile High Sound Movement Resident BADMAN Greg Fisk, or FISK(TREETHUGGER). Thankfully he agreed to talk to us.

  • DUBCO- "How are you today Greg?"
  • FISK - " Great, just enjoying some downtime currently in Denver. Gearing up for Sonic Bloom this weekend, stoked!"
  • DUBCO - "We at DUBCO among many others are seriously excited to see your set this weekend, what can we all expect from your Bloom set this year?"
  • FISK - "TONS of new material, sprinkled with LOTS of Biggie Smalls."
  • DUBCO - "Hell yes! We are HUGE Biggie heads here at DUBCO. That is great to hear. When will your set be this weekend and how long will it be?"
  • FISK - "I will be performing Friday night from 9:30pm-10:00pm in the Weed Dome, or the "Rocky Mountain HydroPonics Dome" as I think it's actually called."
  • DUBCO - "Right on, can't wait for that! Word on the street is that Sunday is your birthday! Is that true?
  • FISK - "Yes!, Sunday is my birthday I'm very stoked to be celebrating it with so many great people at such a beautiful Colorado location.
  • DUBCO - "So how can people best find your music Greg?"
  • FISK - " My BandCamp page is the best way to find my most recent releases. You can also find my new Fractured Feelings release on Beatport."
  • DUBCO - "Great!, So where else can we catch a FISK set this summer?"
  • FISK - "I'll be performing at The Hive in Denver on Hune 28th. July 13th I'll be at Round Midnight. July 21st I'll be tearing up the Beta Beatport Lounge, & I'll be rocking a set with my long time homie Ben Samples as Fresh To Death at the StateBridge in Bond, Colorado on July 27th & 28th. The StateBridge is pretty sweet, it is a great room to play and it offers camping in cabins & yurts right near the river. I highly suggest checking it out."
  • DUBCO - " Wow, that venue sounds truly amazing, we'll definitely have to scope it out, as well as those other dates! So one last question comes to mind when you mention Ben Samples that I can't help but ask because everyone is dying to know."
  • FISK - " Shoot."
  • DUBCO - "Okay.....gulp... Do you & Ben Samples have a romantic relationship?
  • FISK - "Hahaha... no, but you'd think so the way we argue sometimes just like an old married couple. We're the best of boys. Friends, roommates, we're both the middle child in our families. We have a lot in common, Ben is like a brother to me."
  • DUBCO - "Hahaha right on, it's just clear that you guys are tight homies, and that was our attempt at humor. But I'm glad that we got that out of the way, you can sleep sound Denver. Well Thank you very much for taking the time to speak with us Greg, we look forward to your set this weekend!
  • FISK - "Anytime, thank you as well! See you at Sonic Bloom!

My buddy Blake Taylor (Dalco) of the CID Initiative, sent me over this fine take on "Thrill Is Gone". I've always been a fan of The Grateful Dead's versions, and now I have another to dig on. Dalco really grabs you by the balls with this one, yet also maintains a vibed out, chill feeling. Show Dalco's soundcloud and facebook pages some love.

Denver local Bobby C Sound TV brings some serious fire on this remix of Ray Charles, "What'd I Say". I instantly started bobbing my head to this beat. Bobby C Sound TV has been around Denver for about 10 years as a DJ. As of late Bobby C has stepped behind the boards and has been honing his production game. I really like where his work is headed and I think you will too! Enjoy "What'd I Say" & show Bobby C Sound TV some love on his soundcloud page!

After the release of his debut EP, Levitate, well over a year ago; Alex B. (better known as Paper Diamond) has been on a raucous and well-deserved ride that’s taken him from local Colorado favorite to a nationally recognized force in music.  Now, Paper Diamond finds himself preparing for the May 3rd release of his much anticipated sophomore EP, WaveSight, on Diplo’s Philadelphia based Mad Decent Record Label.

WaveSight is a three-track EP of original material from Paper Diamond that starts and ends with unbridled energy and passion.  The first song, “Turn the Lights Off”, begins with a heated dance-floor banger that can only be described as Diplo-esque with flavors of the signature Major Lazer “siren” thrown in for an immediate blast of energy.  The track is unmistakably identifiable as coming from Paper Diamond with an overall hip-hop inspired feel, but this is a unique and welcomed metamorphosis in the career of the Colorado producer.  The track also features the brilliantly beautiful voice of Nasimiyu Murumba which makes it arguably the most complete and defined material Paper Diamond has produced so far.

The second cut on the three-song EP is something more along the lines of what we expect to hear from a Paper Diamond production.  Filled with swirling synthesizers and fueled by a bouncy glitch-hop beat, “AirLift”, comes across as the ultimate culmination of the feel and style of Levitate.  Rounding out WaveSight is “Can We Go Up” which continues the trend of drawing influences from modern contemporaries on the EDM scene.  With ultimate expertise, Paper Diamond crafts a party anthem that rivals those of the best in the business.  A monumental sonic buildup, which is coupled with an string-like electro-house synth line reminiscent of Rusko’s “Everyday”, drops into a grimey dub-glitch will have the heaviest dub-a-holics working on their bassface.

Stream a preview of the WaveSight EP from our 4/18 post right here!

Be sure to grab WaveSight on Thursday May 3rd.  You can also catch Paper Diamond on his remaining spring tour dates or at one of the many festivals he will be appearing at round the US this summer.

One of DubCO's all time favorite artists and personal friend, Gramatik, comes strong with his new EP #DigitalFreedom.  Always a long time supporter of free media and unrestricted file-sharing as a proper way to distribute his music, Gramatik goes one step further with the name and artwork on his album, #DigitalFreedom.  Along with his viewpoint on internet censorship, Gramatik delivers another on-point EP.  Ranging from his idea of Glitch-Hop and Dubstep with his tracks "Fist Up" and "23 Flavors", to bringing us a whole new side of Gramatik with the Nu-Disco track "Born Ready".  Staying true to his roots hip-hop roots, Gramatik fills the spaces in the EP with tasty R&B samples and amazingly catch synthetic hooks.  DubCO was extremely excited to see our favorite track from Gramatik's 2012 SnowBall set, "Talkbox Intended".  G-Funk is alive and well; we plan on melting our speakers all spring and summer long with this track.  This is the EP you've been waiting for to welcome in warmer weather, download #DigitalFreedom from the Pretty Lights Music Label now!

It was a fortunate night for those looking for bass last Friday…it was even more important that all of those bass-heads donated a jacket or blanket to join in on the party.  Two hundred plus blankets and jackets along with just under $200.00 were donated to the Open-Door Mission through Play It Forward, a charity event thrown by The CID InitiativeDubsetep Colorado made sure we were in the house for this community event.  Not only were people giving back to those in need; The Acidophiles, Jimeni, TwoScoopS, and DubCO’s very own Ras Cus threw down massive sets at the Aggie Theatre.

First and foremost this was a charity event, but everyone who made it out to this exclusive event was treated to some awesome bass-heavy music.  DubCO is proud to say that our own Ras Cus was included on the bill and he lived up to expectations, if not exceeded them.  Ras Cus’s best asset is his ability to always be dropping new tracks and remixes that other DJs have yet to even hear.  It’s easy to say that Ras Cus has his finger on the pulse of what’s hot.  With solid track selection and transitions, there wasn’t a dull moment during his set.  Local favorite, Jimeni, cleared out his hectic schedule to make sure he was able to rage the stage and join in on this important charity event.  Jimeni proved he was more than capable of getting a dance-floor into a frenzy with his ever mesmerizing turntable skills.  It’s an art that is quickly being overlooked and the idea should always be kept in the back of our minds that DJs are the heart of the electronic music scene.  After Jimeni got the crowd hyped, the young, up-and-coming producer TwoScoopS had his chance at the stage.  TwoScoopS quickly showed his prowess for writing catchy synth lines and combining them with vocal hooks and huge kick drums that left the crowd begging for more.  DubCO is expecting big things from TwoScoopS in the near future.  TwoScoopS did a perfect job of keeping the crowd excited for the much anticipated performance by local producers and power-duo…The Acidophiles

Colorado, specifically the Front Range, is a hot bed for budding talent in the world of electronic music; The Acidophiles are no exception to this trend.  The Acidophiles, (Amandha Gilson and Zac Rachid) bring a unique flavor to the table that is unlike most acts around Colorado.  They are clear believers in the philosophy that a concert isn’t a collection of songs that the audience will react to; it’s a sonic journey…an insight to the mindset of The Acidophiles.  Their show is based on a simple, yet hard to master, principle of music…dynamics.  They build their sounds from the simplified soundscapes that create a palpable tension to immediately catch the audience’s attention.   Building on their soundscapes is their excellent ability to tastefully start to layer drums, synths, and hypnotic melodies over their main theme that the soundscape introduces.  This steamy combination ultimately leads to the massive and epic sound The Acidophiles are known for.  In one track a listener has found themselves taken from an ambient soundscape to a larger than life experience of pulsing beats, roaring synthesizers, and unmatchable on-stage energy.  While watching their set, it becomes obvious why Amandha and Zac make such a great duo…they complement each other.  Zac is clearly the “rock” on stage by holding down his laptop and keyboard as if they were both extensions of his own body.  There wasn’t one time when he didn’t look to be in complete control of his music.  Zac’s on-stage persona can be summed up in two words, stylishly smooth.  But, this is only one half of The Acidophiles; Amandha brings the soulful and organic element to the group.  Whether it’s her ear-to-ear smile or her very unique and infectious dancing on stage; Amandha is a true performer that feeds off of the audience who then in return feed off of her amazing energy.  It’s a relationship she builds with the crowd; even those who haven’t met her feel like she is a close friend.  Zac and Amandha made sure there wasn’t one dull moment during their set and the fact that everyone in the building was dancing would prove that point.  It becomes obvious that The Acidophiles and their music don’t only belong to Amandha or Zac; it’s a creation of love that is shared by both of them and their ever growing and extremely loyal fan base.
